2017 Run To The Hills #15

Poway Cruisers at the Monday Night Car Clubs 15th Run to the Hills Car Show

Saturday, May 20th, 2017

What a wonderful day to spend in the mountains of east San Diego County. Pine Valley put out the red carpet, and the weather could not have been better!

As planned, 10 Poway Cruiser cars rendezvoused in the Lowes parking lot on Poway Road and headed for the event at 6:45 AM with Bill & Linda Bryan in their ’37 Ford 2dr Sedan leading the way. The caravan was supposed to pick up three more cars at the top of the Poway grade, but when we arrived they were nowhere in sight, so we kept on moving. We made the drive without incident in about 45 minutes, taking the short cut through Lakeside passed Lake Jennings. Gerrie and MaryAnn Griffin in their ’30 Ford Model A caught up with us just as we pulled in to park in Pine Valley.
As promised, the MNCC had reserved us our preferred bivouac area right in front of Major Coffee Shop. Once parked everyone headed for Majors for a hearty breakfast and a dose of caffeine. Once fueled up, it was setup and cleanup time. Several other members had arrive separately and got parked on the main drag, bringing our total count to 16 cars and 26 members in attendance.
As usual, the Monday Night Car Club had a huge pile of raffle prizes, and at least 20 awards to present at the end of the show.  In our group, Carol Asbury was the raffle prize champion. She took home a car load of goodies, including the grand prize flat screen TV.

As for show awards, three club members cars received awards, and the club won the Club Participation Award.  Earl Asbury’s ’29 Ford Model A Sedan Delivery took the award sponsored by Majors Coffee Shop; Ed & Carol Asbury’s ’33 Ford 4dr Sedan garnered the “Best Flames” award sponsored by Rob Taylor Graphics; and Travis and Vickie William’s ’71 Chevrolet Chevelle SS got the “Best Original Engine” award sponsored Bostick Engines.  George Cowman accepted the Club participation Award on behave of the club.

Turned out to be a really fun and relaxing day for those members that attended.  Be sure to check out the pictures posted on the club website: www.powaycruisers.com.
