50’s Rock and Roll Night at the Bernardo Heights Country Club

Poway Cruisers at the Bernardo Heights Country Club 50’s BBQ Picnic

What an enjoyable evening! Angie Stehlik, Food & Beverage Director for the Bernardo Height Country Club invited the Poway Cruisers to help them celebrate the 50’s with a sock hop and BBQ on the Country club patio. Even though this was not an official club participation event, eleven (11) cruisers took them up on the invitation, and were joined by 3 country club members with cool rides for a total of 14 cars on display.

We arrived between 3:45-4:30PM and put our classics on display on the golf cart parking area next to the club house. The DJ got things going about 5:00pm, and the BBQ was in full swing by 5:30pm.  Great tunes, and plenty of good food: hamburgers, cheeseburgers, giant hot dogs and all the fixings, roasted chicken, baked beans, tater tots, corn on the cob, mac & cheese, root beer floats, cool drinks, and a no host bar.

Many cruisers and most of the club members that attended were decked out in their best 50’s attire (at least the way they wanted to remember it). Some even braved the dance floor for a few rock-n-roll tunes. Most just spent the evening socializing with friends and reminiscing about a youth misspent. Altogether, a very enjoyable way to spend a Friday evening.
