Deer Park Car Show

3rd Annual Deer Park Car Show Hosted by the San Diego Cadillac & LaSalle Club  3-22-15

Another successful Car Show was conducted; this time by the Cadillac & LaSalle Club of San Diego.  It all started with 3 Cars meeting at the Mercado in Rancho Bernardo at 7:30 AM, Sunday morning, March 22, 2015.  Some of the Members wanted to meet us at the Event.  Our small caravan rolled into “Deer Park” at about 8:10 to get parked and pick-up our Registration packets.  Parking was on the grass with some shade trees and one pop-up canopy to keep us cool.  It only got up to 78 degrees that day so it was perfect weather for the Show.  After wiping down our Cars, it was time to walk around and view the other Cars at the Show, visit with old friends, make some new friends, and learn about some idiosyncrasies of some of the Cars on display.

The attendance of Poway Cruisers for this Show went like this (in order of how they “signed-up” for the Show):

  1. George & Joyce Cowman (1937 Buick Coupe) *
  2. Jim Knox (1955 Chevrolet Pickup) *
  3. Rick & Linda Milford (1934 Ford Roadster)
  4. Earl Asbury (1966 Cadillac DeVille Convertible)
  5. Travis Williams (1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454) *
  6. Dale Partush (2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray)
  7. Louis & Joyce Heyn (1968 Chevrolet Camaro)

The * indicates they were in the morning “caravan” to the Show.

Before you know it, it was already 12:00 Noon and time for a quick walking lunch from the “Food Truck” provided for the Show.  Had a chicken burrito with avocado and it was pretty good.  Toured through the Automotive Museum on the property (complimentary with paid Registration for the Car Show).  Many varied and interesting cars, mostly convertibles, (I counted about 60 vehicles in two buildings).

My Son-In-Law (Andy) showed-up about 12:30 so we had just enough time to walk around and look at the 101 Cars on display for the Car Show before the Awards Ceremony & Raffle which started at 1:05 PM.  Not sure if anyone in our group won a Raffle Prize but a couple of our Members Won an Award for their Cars.  The Cars were judged in “eras of time” (year groups) and it went like this:

  1. George & Joyce Cowman Won a Trophy for their 1937 Buick Coupe (1920 to 1939).
  2. Earl Asbury Won a Trophy for his 1966 Cadillac DeVille Convertible (1960 to 1979).

It was a Wonderful day and everyone seemed to have a good time!
