Poway Cruisers at the East County Cruisers Summer Fling, It’s a Car Show Thing, July 9, 2017
On Sunday, July 9th, 9 Poway Cruisers attended the East County Cruisers Summer Fling, It’s a Car Show Thing at the Santee Town Center Community Park in Santee. The show benefits local veterans and civilian charities. Parking was on the grass, but it’s a park with almost no trees, so portable shade was a must. It was a muggy day, with a few rain showers, but that just made the paint jobs look even better.
As planned 5 of us we mustered at the Lowes on Poway Road and cruised to Santee at 7:15 AM. We were joined at the show by 4 more Cruisers who had arrived separately.
Representing the Poway Cruisers where:
Ed VanLaningham & Lana Thompson in Ed’s ’65 Falcon
Brian & Patrick Burns in their ’68 Camaro
Ed & Carol Asbury in their ’33 Ford 2dr Sedan
George & Joyce Cowman in their ’37 Buick Coupe
Fred Adler in his ’62 Porsche
Lou & Joyce Heyn in their Camaro
Brenda Anthony in her ’99 Jeep
Hollywood & Vine in their ’56 Chevrolet
Paul & Angie Rancour with their ‘99Dodge RAM P/U
The East County Cruisers produced a very enjoyable event, with plenty of food and beverage venders, games, and loads of raffle prizes. Joyce Cowman took home a boatload of raffle loot, and The Cowman’s ’37 Buick garnered a trophy from Straightline Engineering.
Despite the showers, it was an enjoyable day, proving once again that the Poway Cruisers do bring the fun,
