1st “Homer’s Classic Car Show” at The Home Depot, Carmel Mountain Ranch, Saturday, March 14, 2015.
“Homer’s Classic Car Show” at the Home Depot turned-out to be a very successful event. This was a “Meet at the Event” Show. Show time was 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. As the Wagon Master, I sent-out a Reminder about the Show and that I would get to the Show by 8:45 AM to secure the Poway Cruisers parking spaces. I pulled into the Show as planned at 8:45 AM, and sure-enough, there were already over half a dozen Poway Cruiser Cars in-place. Outstanding!
There was No Entry Fee (another Free Car Show) and at Registration, we were given a small back-pack “Goody Bag” which contained a Home Depot ball cap, bumper sticker, ball point pen, and a “Buy One & Get One Free Hotdog” coupon at Duff’s Doggz. We were also given ticket for a Free cupcake and a “10% off food” ticket for any of the food vendor trucks (5 or 6) attending that day. Vicki and I had the “Grandma’s Mac ‘n’ Cheese topped with Pulled Pork, Bacon, and BBQ sauce”. It was Awesome!
The Poway Cruisers brought 24 of their “Hot Rods/Classics” to this show. That’s just over 1/3 of the total cars in the show which was 71. I counted 40 total Poway Cruiser Members in attendance that day. “Way to go Cruisers”!
By Noon it was probably 90 degrees in the shade but The Home Depot (Farah Wittmayer and her Staff) provided much needed pop-up canopies and bottled water for us to get some shade and cool-off. Thanks to Farah for organizing this Free Show!
The Awards were announced a few minutes after 2:00 PM and two of our Members won half of the 4 Awards presented.
Gerrie & Mary Ann Griffin won “Best Paint” for their Red 1930 Ford Model A Tudor Sedan. Ray Kusmer won “Best Engine & Interior” for his 1937 Chevrolet 4-door Sedan, Master Deluxe. Congratulations!
Thanks to all of the “Cruisers” who brought their vehicles for this Show and Members that came as spectators to join-in on the FUN!
Best Regards,
