Three Poway Cruiser members met at Haggen’s Grocery Store in Penasquitos and headed downtown to attend the Picnic by the Bay car show, hosted by Classic Chevys San Diego. It was a beautiful day at the Embarcadero Marine Park – not too hot and a nice breeze made for a very enjoyable day! We met up with other Poway Cruisers members at the show, and had a total of 9 registered cars. There were about 400 cars in attendance. Vendors were selling their wares, and hot dogs and hamburgers were prepared by the Grossmont/La Mesa Warriors Youth Football and Cheer team. Classic oldies music was provided by DJ Mark Reynolds. We were within walking distance of Seaport Village, so to break up the day we could shop, have some dessert, and enjoy live outdoor entertainment at the Village. There were several raffle prizes and the 50/50 pot reached $413. Fifty-two awards were presented to various car club members.
Poway Cruiser, Jim Laffenhagen(?) received a sponsor’s award.
Proceeds from this event will be given to the Challenge Center.
