The Poway Cruisers made another commanding appearance on Friday, July 17th, at Cruise’n Grand in Escondido. As promised, Steve Waldron had South Broadway reserved for club. Members started arriving even before the barriers where put up, with the early award going to Dewey Smith and Earl Asbury. The rest of the club began arriving soon after 4:15 PM. By the time it was time for dinner, 26 member cars were parked and over 45 members were looking for a place to eat.
One group of 15 choose Filipe’s Pizza Grotto on Grand, some choose the Deli on Kalmia, and some brought eats with them.
Around 7:30, Steve asked us to select one of our cars for recognition, so by consensus new member Richard Martin’s killer red ’57 Chevrolet Bel Air was selected and he moved to the winners circle.
By 8:20 PM it was all over but the shouting, so everyone headed for the barn. Chalk up another very enjoyable evening for the Poway Cruisers.
