Fall Mountain Casino Crawl, Poker and Reliability Run 11/13/2010

Hey fellow road warriors!  The month of October 2010 looks a little sparse for events, with the East County Cruisers Holiday Car Show and Daltons Roadhouse both on 11/6 the only events scheduled, there’s nothing scheduled for the rest of the month. So, let’s have a fun run on Saturday, November 13th: the Poway Cruisers Fall Mountain Casino Crawl, Poker and Reliability Run.  I’ve designed the drive to keep us off the freeways and keep the pace leisurely and the scenery enjoyable.

Here’s the plan:

  • Start:       0800-0900       Coco’s Restaurant & Bakery on Poway Road; Registration and ante up $10.00, draw 1st card, eat breakfast at Coco’s goof off until 0900.  Leave at 0900 for Valley View Casino. Distance via Pomerado, Bear Valley Pkwy, East Valley Pkwy, and Lake Wohlford Road: Distance is 24 Miles; travel time to Valley View: allow 45 minutes.
  • 1st Stop   Valley View Casino, Valley Center: arrive at 0945, draw 2nd card, play slots in casino, goof off. Leave at 1100 for Santa Ysabel Casino via Valley Center Road, CA-76, CA-79. Distance to Santa Ysabel Casino is 28 miles, travel time allow 45 minutes.
  • 2nd Stop  Santa Ysabel Casino, Santa Ysabel and Lake Henshaw. Arrive at 1145, draw 3rd card, eat lunch, play slots or what ever is your pleasure.  Leave at 1315 for Pine Valley via CA-79, then CR-S1 (Sunrise Hwy).  We’ll allow a couple of short stops: Dudley’s Bakery (bread, gas), Julian, and the Desert Overlook on Sunrise Hwy, before driving on to Pine Valley. We’ll re-group on Porter Lane in Julian before proceeding to the Desert View Overlook and Pine Valley. Distance to Pine Valley is 43 miles; travel time including stops allow 1 hour 50 minutes.
  • 3rd Stop   Majors Café back parking lot, Pine Valley.  Arrive at 1515, Draw 4th card, have a snack or refreshments, stretch, comfort break.  Leave at 1545 for Barona via Olde Hwy 80,  on to I-8 until we reach Willows Road, then back on Olde Hwy 80 (Alpine Blvd) through Alpine, to Dunbar Road, then Old Hwy 80 to Lake Jennings Park Road, then through Lakeside to Barona Casino. Distance to Barona Casino is 34 miles; travel time allow 1 hour.
  • 4th Stop   Barona Casino & Spa, Barona Indian Reservation, Lakeside. Arrive at Barona Casino at 1645; draw 5th and final card, conduct door prize drawings, and declare poker run winners.  Done by 1730.  We can then stay and enjoy Barona Casino for games or dinner, or depart for other destinations.

As with past casino crawls we’ll need a volunteer Wagon/Game Master for each leg of the drive.  The Wagon/Game Master will handle the card drawing and verification, and lead the drive.  We’ll also need a volunteer to drive drag for each leg to assist stragglers or anyone needing assistance.

Also, as with the past casino crawls, participants from other clubs are very welcome.  If you are also a member of another club, or have a contact in another club, please pass the word.  The more the merrier and the bigger the pot.  Just have them send me a message.

I’ll have a sign up sheet at the next members meeting on 10/21.  However, if you can’t make the meeting, just shot me a message and I’ll add you to the signup sheet.  I’ll need to know how many will be in your car, how many hands you want to play, what car you’ll be driving, and your cell phone number.

Hope you all can make it.  This will be a fun drive and a beautiful day!
