Wow! What a Saturday; 3 events in one day, with 16 Poway Cruisers participating, 3 of which participated in all 3! You could not have asked for better So Cal weather, and all 3 events where very enjoyable! The parade even went by quicker than everyone expected; Motorhead Madness was just that, and the Ramona Oaks Park was a beautiful setting for a car show with good TexMex Food for dinner, and great music for entertainment.
At the Motorhead Madness Show, Jim and Cindy Boatwright received an award for their orange ‘73 Z28 Camaro. Later, at the San Diego Country Estates Car Show, Woody Reaves was awarded a trophy for his purple 32 Ford Coupe. In addition, a ’39 Chevy Pickup Truck Woody built in his shop for a customer was also selected for an award. Congratulations to Jim & Woody, and to all the participating Poway Cruisers. So with this Saturday behind us, the next event is the Members Picnic at Poway Lake on Saturday, October 2nd. The festivities start at 10:00 AM, and will conclude around 2:00 PM. We’ll be in Section 6 on the northeast side of the part overlooking the lake and concession area. We also have the north side of the parking lot immediately adjacent to Section 6, which has about 20 parking spaces for those that want to bring their hot rod, custom, muscle car, or classic.
Kaaren Thiem has put together a great plan. We’ll have some games, music, and the best hamburgers in San Diego that day. She is still looking for some potluck food items, and a table or 2 for the “stuff”, and maybe a few folks to help get it all setup and cleaned up afterwards. So far we have 42 people signed up to participate, so there is plenty of room for more. If you have not already signed up to participate, just give me a call or an email and I’ll add you to the signup sheet. We need a final count by Thursday, 9/30, so we can buy the hamburgers, buns, and fixings.
