Poway Cruisers at the All American Car Show XX

The 20th All American Car Show produced by the MOPAR Club San Diego was a hit! Over 275 vehicles participated helping the MOPAR raise funds to support several Local Veterans services: the USO San Diego, Homefront San Diego, Wounded Warrior Homes & Warrior Foundation Freedom Station. All 4 of these organizations had information booths at the show and a lot of walking around presence.

This was the first time I had attended, and I was impressed. The venue is very good for a parking lot show, with plenty of space to allow parking to be spread out, and lots of large trees to provide shade on a hot July day. The MOPAR Club also had arranged for several food venders to be on hand, providing fresh coffee, pastries, hot lunches, BBQ, and great ice cream deserts. There were even some automotive parts/services venders on display.

While I made the drive to the show solo, Joyce and I with our ’37 Buick Coupe joined 5 other Poway Cruisers at the Show. Representing the Poway Cruisers were: Dale Vermillion in his ’67 Corvette, Ed Vanlaningham & Lana Thompson in their ’65 Falcon Convertible, John McDowell and his ’38 Ford Sedan, Jeff Sachs and his ’68 Camaro SS, and Jerry Keller with at least one of his MOPARs.

We hung out swapping lies and alibis until about 1:15 PM.  Then it was time for the awards. From the Poway Cruisers attending, 2 were awarded trophies: George & Joyce Cowman’s ’37 Buick was picked for the Best Vintage Award, and Dale Vermillion’s ’67 Corvette was also picked.

Once again the Poway Cruisers brought the fun!
