Poway Cruisers Nite at Cruisin Grand July 20th

What a great way to spend a warm SoCal Friday evening. Six Poway Cruisers congregated at the Mercado Shopping Center in Rancho Bernardo at 4:15 PM and made the short 15 minute drive to Grand Ave. They were met on South Broadway by at least 19 more Cruisers pretty much filling up the reserved parking area. Everyone got parked, set their cars for display, staked out their sidewalk seating spots, and headed off to various eateries for an early evening dinner.

Making the show were Poway Cruisers Earl Asbury in his ’65 Cadillac Convertible; Ed & Carol Asbury in their ’67 Pontiac GTO; Bill & Linda Bryan in their ’71 Oldsmobile Cutlass; Jerry & Bonnie Badders in their ’67 Chevelle; Mike Hoffman in his ’70 Olds 442 Convertible; George & Joyce Cowman in their ’37 Buick Special Coupe; Bill & Peggy Troop in their ’67 Mustang; Bill Avery in his ’65 Falcon Ranchero; Duff Weatherington in his ’68 Ford; Gerald & Mickey DeSoto and their ’65 Falcon Convertible; Steven Boyle in his ’66 Mustang; Ed VanLaningham in his ’65 Falcon Convertible; Walter Borra in his ’34 Chevrolet Sedan; Jerry Reed and his ’32 Chevrolet Sedan; Chuck & Pat Kramer in their ’34 Chevrolet; Fred Fadich in his ’66 Corvette; Gary Thomas in his ’69 Chevelle; Shawn Hodgetts in his ’64 Nova; Jeff Sachs and his ’69 Camaro SS; John James & Amy in their Dodge Demon; John McDowell and his ’38 Ford Sedan; Dale & Lee Partusch in their ’36 Ford Sedan; Bob Jacoby and his ’30 Ford Model A Coupe. I’m sure there were a few others that I missed.

As the weather was a patented SoCal July evening, the crowd was thick and in a happy mood as they toured the show and took in the beautiful vehicles on display. And, as usual, several vehicles were picked to receive recognition, among them Ed & Carol Asbury’s ’67 Pontiac GTO, representing the club in grand manner. By 8:15 PM the fun was done and everyone headed for home.

One more event where the Poway Cruisers brought the fun.
