Members Picnic 2018

Poway Cruisers Members Picnic at Lake Poway, June 16, 2018

The day started out cool and a little drizzly, but as is usual for SoCal in June, the drizzle stopped and it did warm up a bit. The setup crew arrived early, between 6:30-7:00 AM, unloaded and huddled together in the Area 6 gazebo until it warmed up and stopped drizzling. Linda soon arrived with several boxes of fresh baked donuts which helped lift the gloom and energize the crowd which had become quite cozy all huddled together in the gazebo.

Popup canopies soon marked the bivouac spot, music provided by Earl Asbury filled the air and lifted spirits, and 31 members and 2 guests settled in for a day of pleasant comradery, enlightening conversation, yard games, and conspicuous consumption of hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, several styles of baked beans, potato, macaroni, and fruit salads, a bunch of chips and different dips, and a pile of fabulous deserts. George Cowman and Ed Asbury manned the grill handling the cooking chores, and the food fest was on.

Even though the day started wet, 15 members brought their classic/hot rods cars (and one truck) to the park making for a cool informal car show for other park visitors to enjoy.

About 12:40 PM the ladies got together and played Bingo for about an hour, vying for Bingo prizes that has been chosen by Carol Asbury and Joyce Cowman.

Around 2:15 everyone felt they had had enough comradery, so we broke camp and headed for the barn, Altogether, another very nice day in the park, where once again the Poway Cruisers did bring the fun!
