Poway Cruisers at the 2018 San Diego County Fair Car Show

Poway Cruisers at the 2018 San Diego County Fair Car Show

How sweet it was! Once again the Poway Cruisers were invited to participate in the San Diego County Fair Car Show. Two dates were scheduled: June 13th and 21st. The club was allotted 8 entries for each date which the club filled with ease. The Club shared the stage with the Early V8 Ford Club on the 13th, and the San Diego Miata Club on the 21st. Both days were great weather wise and the cars showed beautifully.

We mustered as planned at the 7/11 on Carmel Mountain Road and made the drive through 4S Ranch and Fairbanks Ranch arriving at the fairgrounds a little after 9:00 AM and staged for entry just inside the Saddle Club Gate. About 9:30 we were met by John Greenly, new show coordinator, who is transitioning into the role formerly held by Bon Meigs. John led the caravan through the back gate and around the horse track to the show area in front of the grandstand. Once we got parked, cars dusted off, chairs situated, and show signs in place we were off to an early walk through the Fair.

The Fair opened to the public at 11:00 AM, and by 11:120 it was a mob scene. People everywhere. The show location, between the main fairway and the Kids Zone in the infield of the race track, worked great for getting spectators through the show. The spectators voted for their 3 favorite vehicles, with the vehicle getting the most popular votes receiving an award.

At precisely 2:45, John Greenly called the participants together and presented the favorite of the show award.  For the June 13th show, Joe Musick’s ’69 Opel GT took the award, with Dan & Teri Martin’s ’62 Corvette Roadster voted the favorite on June 21st.

Once again, the Poway Cruisers brought the fun! How sweet it was!
