Poway Cruisers at the 2018 Street Masters Christmas Toy Drive & Car Show
What a way to start a day and get into the Holiday Spirit! We started the day as planned with six (6) member’s cars caravanning to Torrey Pines High School, leaving the rendezvous point at 6:45 AM. Making the drive were:
Bill & Linda Bryan in their ’37 Ford Tudor
Jerry Badders in his ’68 Camaro
Ed VanLaningham and his ’67 Mustang Fastback
John McDowell in his ’38 Ford Tudor
Paul & Sigrid Bundy in their ’32 Ford Roadster
George & Joyce Cowman in their ’37 Buick Special Coupe
Within a short time after arriving we were joined by more Cruisers that just could not handle getting up early:
Bill & Peggy Troop’s ’68 Mustang
Bill Avery’s ’65 Ford Ranchero
Dick Blank in his ’55 Ford Crown Vic
The arrival and check in process presented some challenges for several participant’s cars this year. The process was quite slow, with several cars overheating or developing mechanical issues while waiting in line. Bill & Linda’s ’37 deciding to stall and not run for a while, several other vehicles over heated, and one ’27 T Tub’s cooling system erupting spewing antifreeze/coolant over everything within a 20 foot radius. Particularly drenched was Paul & Sigrid Bundy’s ’32 Ford Roadster. It took a while and a lot of cleaner to remove the slippery stuff.
While making the rounds I found another seven (7) Member cars in attendance bringing our total to 16:

We spent the day socializing and playing games. Linda Bryan, Carol Asbury and Joyce Cowman all won delicious cakes in the Cake Walk.
By 2:30 PM it was all over, and we all headed home. I’m not sure how many toys and money was collected, but I’m sure it was another very successful event for the Street Masters Car Club.
